The Yiddish Blues Drifters is a new folk outfit from Jerusalem, headed by Gershon Leizerson, the mastermind behind highly popular Israeli klezmer band Oy Division.
The music of The Yiddish Blues Drifters is the Renaissance of the Shtetl with good old-fashioned Eastern European Jewish music, strengthened by touches from contemporary Israeli and world music with craziness of Balkan folk. The band reinvents forgotten Jewish masterpieces along with new authentic melodies written by the band leader Gershon Leizerson for the lost Yiddish lyrics.
Gershon researches and reconstructs the old-school Eastern-European Jewish folk music, and writes instrumentals and folk songs based on Jewish music tradition. Joined by the best Israeli virtuoso musicians on clarinet and accordion, Gershon Leizerson & The Yiddish Blues Drifters will become soon one of the fresh new hits in modern folk music of Israel.
